Another year and more resolutions.
This year I intend to do more work on my other websites rather concentrating on the main one too much, I know I said the same thing last year, but this time I really mean it. It's hard though, especialy when you know that when you put content on one site it won't rank as high in the search engines as on other sites. The next problem is deciding which content to use on which site and then actually putting it all together.
13 January 2008 - With the Peter Hain sleaze affair all over the headlines at the moment I decided to run a little spoof AdWords campaign targeting his name. The page I am sending traffic to is a page about
Peter Hain which is in my
Labour Cabinet section of
UKSBD.
19 January 2008 - I know there is the old saying "you get what you pay for" but it amazes me just how few small business owners make the most of genuine business opportunities.
Is it because of all the internet scams, deceptive marketing offers and general misinformation that small business owners have become so cynical, or is it just general apathy?
I have been providing
Free advertising opportunites to UK based small businesses for
over 2 years now, in that time the number of
businesses registered has risen from 3,000 to just over 30,000, but why aren't more small business owners taking advantage of this opportunity?
I recenty joined a local business network in my own town, was amazed to discover there is in excess of 600 small business within a 10 mile radius (this only being a very small town).
A google search puts my site at the top for
the "county business directory" and the "town business directory" and it also ranks high for the few businesses that are registered.
But that's the point, just how few businesses from my own home town have even bothered to list, are most small business owners still not savvy enough to make the most of online opportunities or are they just too cynical?
After all, there is another saying,
"Don't look a gift horse in the mouth"

22 January 2008 - Finaly got around to tidying up my
Wheelchair Ramps site yesterday. It is a secondary site that I just use for the Jetmarine
Fibreglass Wheelchair Ramps but has been neglected for the past 5 years.
Jetmarine provided me with some realy useful images, all pre cropped and sized nicely. It's great when your supplier provides images in this way and was my spur to tidying up the site.
I was initialy just going to do 2 or 3 pages, but once I started I was soon in the zone and 5 hours later a complete 18 page website was created, uploaded and ready for link building.
